Roe v. Wade Might Get Overturned: What does this mean for reproductive rights?

On May 2, 2022, at 8:30pm, Politico obtained and released a leaked draft that states the Supreme Court held a preliminary vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, a 1973 legal case that guaranteed women the right to abortion under the U.S. Constitution. In the past few decades, abortion has become a hot-button political issue instead of a private and deeply personal decision between a woman and her doctor. 

Today, 59% of U.S. adults say abortion should be legal in all or most cases.

Overturning Roe v. Wade would have a major ripple effect throughout the country, with 24 states expected to ban aboriton in most cases within the year. This will lead to unsafe abortion practices for people with reproductive systems. Abortions will still happen with our without the ban. This only restricts access to safe abortions.
